What is my Fault
Sometimes we're where we are because we've made a choice that's not positive and put ourselves in a bad spot. One of the hardest things a parent can do is let their children make mistakes. God is a perfect and loving parent. He doesn't do things to manipulate or control us. So, when we do things we should, he lets us experience the effects (or consequences) of those choices.
"We sometimes cause our own pain. Our problems often result from sheer selfishness or stupidity." –The Red Sea Rules, by Robert J. Morgan (Rule 1)
The great thing about God's perfect love is that when we confess our mistakes, stupidity, or both, he works right away to move us into a better place.

"But don't be upset, and don't be angry with yourselves for selling me to this place. It was God who sent me here ahead of you to preserve your lives." –Genesis 45:5 NLT
I don't believe God wanted Joseph's brothers to be jealous of him, fake his death, and sell him into slavery. But since they did…he used the act to save his entire family and give Israel a place to live for generations. I'm sure if Joseph had stayed with his family, he would have been able to save them where they were, and maybe Moses wouldn't have had to liberate them from being slaves in Egypt. But we can't play the what-if game.
Do you play the what-if game in your life? Do you wonder what would have happened if you had made a different choice? Today, think about what could happen in the coming weeks if you embrace our first Rule of Life: Realize that God Means for you to be where you are.

Questios to Ponder:
- Why do you think life is hard and problems exist?
- What's one thing you have learned so far with this rule?
- How have you reacted to your own experience?
