Our Mission at Fleming Island UMC Kids Club is to create an environment in which all children feel welcome, safe, and loved while learning about God's love and growing in their faith. We believe that even the youngest child can experience God's love.

Katie Strickland
Children's Minister
Hello! I am so excited you are interested in learning more about our Children's Ministry at Fleming Island UMC. You could quite possibly be meeting me for the first time and will ever only know me as Katie Strickland. However, many in our church know me as Katie Perry (my maiden name). That is because I grew up at Fleming Island UMC. I can genuinely say that this church and the people here hold a special place in my heart, and it all started when I was a kid! I want nothing more for this church and this children's ministry to be the special place for you and your child as it has been for me.
I started serving as the Children's Minster in August 2022. My husband Dusten and I were married in April 2015 at Camp Chowenwaw (Green Cove Springs). We have two young children: Henry and Addie, along with a dog, two chickens, a bunny, and a fish. It is safe to say that I pretty much live in a zoo!

What We're Learning This Month
Rise and Shine
A 5-WEEK SERIES FROM THE NEW TESTAMENT ON EASTER
SERIES OVERVIEW:
On a farm, life has a daily rhythm (for plants, animals, and people, too). “Life” is what this series is all about, because we’re talking about Easter and Jesus’ triumph over death! In this five-week series, kids will explore the stories leading up to and following Easter Sunday. Together, they’ll discover we can stick with Jesus even when our days are dark, and that because Jesus is alive, we can spend our days meeting with him, trusting he’s there for us, and sharing his love — not just today, but every day!

Kids Club Teachings
We understand that we sometimes have kids that can't make it to church on Sundays. We provide our children's lessons so they can continue to grow no matter what. Here you will find past and current lessons that include videos and handouts to help your child expand their understanding. These resources are also great for grown-ups who want to know more about their child's learning.

Cereal Sunday
March 14th, 2023
Daylight savings began this past Sunday, which can be hard on kids and parents alike. To make their morning a bit easier we invited the kids to come to church in the pajamas and we provided a cereal breakfast. It is safe to say they all enjoyed our mini-celebration. ......
Measure Up Preview
December 13th, 2022
Hey, families! Here’s a look at what we’re covering with your kids this month so you can help your kids continue growing at home. Remember when you just couldn’t wait to be tall enough and old enough to ride a roller coaster? It seems like a small thing, but it's actually a significant childhood milestone and every kid is looking to measure up in some way. But . . . we never really outgrow that im...
October in the Bag
November 10th, 2022
October was a busy month, but we have so many things to celebrate. Many know this, but I wasn't in favor of doing the pumpkin patch this year. Why? Because I was worried it would over-tax our congregation's time. Why am I telling you this? Because I was wrong and I'm glad to be wrong.I'm a firm believer in sharing my opinion and then stepping back. The church council rallied together to bring the ...
