Our Mission at Fleming Island UMC Kids Club is to create an environment in which all children feel welcome, safe, and loved while learning about God's love and growing in their faith. We believe that even the youngest child can experience God's love.

Katie Strickland
Children's Minister
Hello! I am so excited you are interested in learning more about our Children's Ministry at Fleming Island UMC. You could quite possibly be meeting me for the first time and will ever only know me as Katie Strickland. However, many in our church know me as Katie Perry (my maiden name). That is because I grew up at Fleming Island UMC. I can genuinely say that this church and the people here hold a special place in my heart, and it all started when I was a kid! I want nothing more for this church and this children's ministry to be the special place for you and your child as it has been for me.
I started serving as the Children's Minster in August 2022. My husband Dusten and I were married in April 2015 at Camp Chowenwaw (Green Cove Springs). We have two young children: Henry and Addie, along with a dog, two chickens, a bunny, and a fish. It is safe to say that I pretty much live in a zoo!

What We're Learning This Month
MAKE IT OR BREAK IT
A 4-WEEK SERIES FROM GENESIS ON CREATION & EARLY HUMANITY
SERIES OVERVIEW:
Whether it’s with LEGO bricks, Minecraft, or Roblox, kids (and adults!) love to make things — and sometimes break them. In this four-week series from the very beginning of the Bible, we’ll compare God’s ability to make good things with our tendency to break them. Through the stories of creation, the fall, Cain and Abel, and the Tower of Babel, we’ll see that God makes good things, unbreaks what’s been broken, and made us different on purpose, so we should honor God with the things we make.

Kids Club Summer Pop-up
This summer, we are introducing Kids Club Summer Pop-ups. On three different Fridays, we will meet at different parks in Clay County for some family fun and fellowship. This evening offer parents an opportunity to connect with other parents, kids a chance to hangout with their Kids Club friends outside of Sunday mornings, and families sometimes to create summer memories.

Kids Club Teachings
We understand that we sometimes have kids that can't make it to church on Sundays. We provide our children's lessons so they can continue to grow no matter what. Here you will find past and current lessons that include videos and handouts to help your child expand their understanding. These resources are also great for grown-ups who want to know more about their child's learning.

Kids Club is Growing!!
April 19th, 2023
Back in August, I wrote an post about all of my God-sized dreams for Kids Club. I had so much excitement for what I knew our program could be and what we could accomplish. At first I was a bit discouraged because things weren't happening quite as quickly as I wanted them too or how I wanted them to go. After a while, I realized something. Things may not be going exactly how I wanted them to go...
Palm Sunday
April 5th, 2023
Palm Sunday, what an amazing day! It was such a fun day of fellowship with old friends and new friends from start to finish. We had an amazing service with the kids leading us in waving palms. Our Potluck Lunch was a wonderful opportunity to eat some delicious food (say hello thirds) and spend sometime chatting with everyone. I know the kids had a blast collecting all the eggs during our Easter...
