In His Own Way

Have you ever wished God would do things your way? I sure have. At the moment, it feels like it would be easier…on me. I’m glad that God knows better, though. His wisdom far surpasses any human, so he continues to guide us in his way.

I imagine that Israel felt that way as well. They were facing the Red Sea and saw no way to move forward. They couldn’t imagine why God took them on such a strange path to place them at a dead end.
In the Red Sea account, the Lord intended from the beginning to gain glory for Himself by snatching His people from the jaws of annihilation at the last moment. He never worried about the outcome, knowing He could provide an escape route at any time. –The Red Sea Rules, by Robert J. Morgan (Rule 2)

Our responsibility isn’t to try and figure out what God is doing. Our part is to keep walking forward and focusing on God. We need enough faith to believe that he has things in hand. Paul told the church in Corinth:
The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure. –1 Corinthians 10:13 NLT

Today, don’t be frustrated by temptations or things that cause you to doubt that God is in control. Instead, take those moments to ask God to keep you focused on trusting him.

Questions to Ponder:

  • How can you keep yourself focused on God today?
  • What’s a simple prayer you can use when you are doubting God?
  • What’s one way you’ve seen God’s glory this week?
