Grace is Power

Today's scripture is from the New Testament reading which is Paul's second letter to the people in Corinth.
Grace is something that we all need. I wonder, have you ever considered it your most significant power? We can offer someone grace that allows us to show love. Grace is the root of forgiveness, kindness, and everything that is the foundation of who Christ is.

For some, granting grace, forgiveness, and love is a weakness. In my mind, it is our Christian superpower. There's nothing more potent than to look at someone who has harmed you and say out loud, "I am not upset or angry. I may be hurt, but with time that will heal. I forgive you, and I love you." After all, this is what God does for us every day.

Paul explains God's grace like this:
But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong. –2 Corinthians 12:9-10

We're going to mess things up in our lives, and God will grant us grace when we seek it. Paul suggests we should seek our times of struggles and difficulties as opportunities to lean into him more. If we see grace as our ability to reach others, we may need to see other people's difficulties as times to help them lean on God through us.

Questions to Ponder

  • How do you define grace in your daily life?
  • What would you say your greatest power in life is?
  • Is there some way you can reach out to someone today and show support?
