Don’t Be Afraid
Did you know that throughout the Bible, 365 different Bible verses talk about fear? I have never counted myself, but that number has been important to preachers for a long time because it means you could look at a passage every day of the year, reminding yourself not to be afraid.
Morgan explains that when Scripture repeats something, it’s because it’s important to God:

“In our distresses in life when trapped by the Red Sea, we must trust God with the impossible and leave room for Him to work, for the Lord has promised to fight for us. Search this out in Scripture, and you’ll discover it’s one of the truths the Lord most often repeats.” –The Red Sea Rules, by Robert J. Morgan (Rule 5)

“So be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and do not panic before them. For the Lord your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you.” –Deuteronomy 31:6 NLT
I love the phrase, “do not panic…he will never abandon you.” God is always there with us, even if we can’t see how. Even in the darkest valley, God is there. When our enemies are coming at us from every direction, God is there.

Thoughts to Ponder
- How can you remind yourself not to panic?
- Do you tend to fear more or walk in faith?
- What’s one thing you can do when you’re in a time of difficulty?
