Members Bike for the Childrens Home
Lake Deaton UMC Members Bike Across Kansas for the Children's Home
Four members from Lake Deaton United Methodist Church in the Villages spent eight straight days from June 9-16th biking across Kansas to raise funds for the Children's
Home!
One of the four, Wendy Wright, attended our Day on Campus event in Enterprise back on March 25th where she discovered that folks described the Children's Home with single words like: Sanctuary, Healing, Blessing, Love, Hope, Opportunity and Caring.
In Wendy's own words: "As I Bike Across Kansas in June for 8 straight days, 540 miles, I can put faces to the charity I will be fundraising for on this bicycle ride. I will be carrying on my bike pack a keychain made by one of the students that states,
"LOVE IS ALWAYS WITH YOU." If I hit a wall, then I will just remember that these children suffered more than the pain I may be feeling and KEEP ON PEDALING." We do not possess the words adequate to express our deep love and gratitude for Wendy, Pastor Jim Divine and their team going all in for our children and youth. Thank you!

"One is Too Many" Toy Drive
On June 17 & 18, One is Too Many participated in the Seminole Harley Takeover event to begin collecting toys and money for Christmas in July at the Florida United Methodist Children's Home. Seminole Harley provided all of the hot dogs and hamburgers while One is Too Many provided the volunteers.
Saturday started out a bit soggy with three bands performing while 50 to 60 people milled around throughout the day. Sunday was bright and sunny with a smaller crowd in attendance
due to Father's Day.
One is Too Many collected a box of items for the Children's Home and raised over $300 to kick-off our Christmas in July event which will culminate with their Black Jack Poker Run on Saturday, July 15th with four stops in the Debary/Osteen/Sanford area with a $10 fee or an unwrapped toy as admission.

July is a Fifth Sunday Month!
The Fifth Sunday offering began in 1906 with children's Sunday school classes and Epworth League youth groups as a way to raise funds to build an orphanage. Today, the Fifth Sunday Offering continues to show the deep connection between the Florida United Methodist Children's Home and the local churches within the state.
We ask that you promote the July 30th Fifth Sunday Offering within the context of your church's worship service. Whether you received printed supplies, electronic supplies, or a combination of the two, you can use these resources to help highlight the wonderful ministry of the Children's Home that your church continues to make possible. It is also a good opportunity to remind your congregation that the Children's Home is NOT an apportionment supported organization through the Conference. Instead, we rely on the generosity of friends around the state to support our children and families throughout the year. Thank you for your continued partnership as the backbone of our ministry!
