Zip Line Adventures

Zip Line Adventures

Summer Fun on Friday at the Children's Home means zip lining on our high ropes course! Not only is it fun for the youth, but it's also a big boost to their self-confidence. For some it's a major accomplishment conquering their fear of heights. And their friends cheering them on from the ground is a big plus. This young man really struggled to find the courage to step off that platform. And as soon as he got to the bottom he yelled, "I want to go again!"

Youth Workers Extradinaire

A group of youth volunteers from Palma Ceia Methodist Church in Tampa came to the Children's Home on July 10th to do some landscape work around Fox - Wright Cottage. They did an excellent job and we are very grateful to them!

School Superlatives

Even though we are almost through the summer break, we continue to rejoice over our children's exploits this past school year. One of our students came to us with a .25 GPA and completed the last semester with straight A's on her report card, raising her GPA to 1.90! We had three of our students at our Enterprise campus who received Straight A's on their report cards for their last semester, including Advance Placement and Honor classes! Congratulations to our students and the Legacy Scholars Academy for a job well done!

At the Madison Youth Ranch, two of our youth won an educational reward with their academic prowess and improvement as they maintained a 2.0 GPA or better, did not receive any in or out school suspensions for the entire year. One of the youth missed it last year by one point and worked really hard all this past school year to meet the incentives.

They were provided a trip to Sea World where they dove for pearls and saw Orcas. They also visited the Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom where they raved about all of their Avatar adventures. They also spent a day at the beach! Thank you so much for our donors who provided that incentive and made it all possible!

Cycling Generosity

Lee and Tony from Seminole Cyclists Cycling Club came to the Children's Home to drop off a check with Elisabeth Gadd, our Chief Development Officer. The gift was raised during their recent Bike Swap Meet, and we are very grateful for their support!
