Food Pantry Low

If you're like me and you follow the Green Cove Springs Food Pantry on Facebook, you might have seen the post that their shelves are at an all-time low. With the holidays approaching, this is the worst time. We just did a HUGE drive for them, bringing in record amounts of food, but that only put a bandaid on the situation. I received this letter from them last week:

Dear Valued Partner of The Food Pantry of Green Cove Springs:

The Food Pantry is at an all-time low in our stock of food. Although we receive many generous donations of food, we must also purchase a large portion of the necessary stock. And while we have had an increase in clients coming to us for food, we have had a severe decrease in the ability to provide the food. Each week we serve 70 or more families in need of food. If our current situation continues, we will have to reduce the amount of food we provide each family and/or reduce the number of families we serve.

We need help now.

Therefore, we come to you, our partner in providing assistance to the hungry, with a humble request for help. If you are able to hold a food drive and engage your congregation to assist us in the next few weeks, we may be able to continue serving God's children during this time of need. I have included a list of the most needed items.

May our Lord bless you and keep you and your generous congregation in His care. If you have any questions or need help with a food drive, please contact Jean Cosby at (904) 284-5470.

Sincerely.
Wynema Lovell,
Executive Director
