Sensory Santa

This past Saturday, nine families joined us for our first Sensory Santa.  We were so excited to offer this event to our community.  Children, who would not be able to visit Santa in a traditional setting, and their families joined us for a morning of Christmas fun.  The kids were able to visit with Santa, decorate cookies, make Christmas ornaments, visit our Photo Booth, and visit our Quiet Room.  We heard over and over from the families how much they enjoyed this event.
This year, we received a grant from the Foundation for Evangelism to start a new ministry in our church. With this grant our goal is to create a program specifically designed for children with special needs, as a subset of our Children's Ministry.  In the new year, we are planning on providing all our Sunday School teachers with inclusion training and opening a Sensory Room in children's space.  We hosted Sensory Santa as a way to begin to introduce our new ministry to the community.
