Unstoppable God

On Sunday, we'll introduce a new song, "Unstoppable God," by Elevation Worship. This song will complement our sermon series and theology well. It celebrates God’s unchanging power, creative work, victory over sin, and enduring faithfulness.

Here are some ways the "Unstoppable God" connects with scripture:

God’s Unstoppable Power

Lyrics: “Unstoppable God, let Your glory go on and on. Impossible things in Your name, they shall be done.”
  • Scripture:
    • Luke 1:37: “For nothing will be impossible with God.”
    • Matthew 19:26: “But Jesus looked at them and said, ‘With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.’”
These verses emphasize that with God, nothing is impossible, highlighting His omnipotence.

Creation and Majesty

Lyrics: “Heaven thundered and the world was born. Life begins and ends in the dust You formed.”
  • Scripture:
    • Genesis 1:1: “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.”
    • Colossians 1:16: “For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him.”
These verses celebrate God’s role as the Creator and His supreme authority over all creation.

God’s Eternal Kingdom

Lyrics: “Freedom conquered, all our chains undone. Sin defeated, Jesus has overcome.”

    • John 16:33: “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
    • 1 Corinthians 15:55-57: “Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting? The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
These passages reflect the victory over sin and death through Jesus, affirming the song’s message of freedom and triumph in Christ.

God’s Enduring Faithfulness

Lyrics: “Mercy triumphed when the third day dawned. Darkness was denied when the stone was gone.”
