Ready to Welcome

If you were in worship this past Sunday in-person, you might have noticed our new welcome setup in the entry way. Thank you to the many hands that helped me get this space ready. I'd like to explain how it's set up so that we're all prepared to help hand out a gift when we see people who are new.
After reading and following some posts in church groups about the struggle to find the right thing to give new attenders, we decided to go with a "make your own" gift. That way, people can take what they want and not end up with things they have no interest in. The bags are empty, intentionally. Here's the thought.

If you see someone new in our church, you walk them over and express our gratitude for them worshiping with us. Then, you pick up an empty bag, and encourage them to pick as little or as many things as they'd like.
We have little bags of candy, with a wide array of types. Every member of the family can take one that they like. Then there's little activities for kids (of all ages) to choose from.

You'll also notice information about our small groups, children, and student ministries. Katie's contact info is here as well.
Naturally, there's also a basket of the crosses we gave away a few weeks ago. People can choose the color they want, and you can get an additional cross any time you need one. Every cross come with a QR code that leads to the Blog Article on the cross's significance to us.
The last bit of info is the shelf with our worship information. Here you'll find details on our style, communion, baptism, and membership. If anyone is wondering why we do what we do, this is a great place to bring them. You'll also find my card on this shelf, and soon Michael's.

Everyone in our church is amazing at looking out for new people and welcoming them. I believe this next step, of giving them information on our ministries and a gift, will help us go a step further. It'll show that we were waiting for them to arrive!
