Fun and Impact

In December, the women had a Christmas party with 21 ladies present. They do this every year with good food, games, and fun. But the party is more than simply celebrating the holidays together. Years ago, they established a tradition of collecting new socks to donate to The Clothes Closet.
We received the following letter (pictured below) from The Clothes Closet a few weeks ago:
Dear Pastor Parry,

Many thanks for the socks donated by the Women of Fleming Island United Methodist Church in 2022. We are grateful for your support of our Clay County clients with your donation.

With the cost of living, food and gas prices continuing to rise, the donations throughout the year are even more meaningful. The number of clients seeking our assistance last year has greatly increased and we are anticipating that trend to continue. For food alone in 2022, we served 10,958 adults and children living in Orange Park and Fleming Island. That is a 77% increase compared to 2021. We also serve many more Clay County residents in need of clothing, household items, furniture, appliances, baby items and much more.

As a result of your donation, The Clothes Closet and Food Pantry can continue our mission of serving those in need during this difficult time. Again, we are grateful for your help to provide for those less fortunate.

May God continue to richly bless Fleming Island United Methodist Church as you have helped us bless those in need in Clay County.

Gratefully,
Mandy E. Nelson, President
Thank you for giving me another reason to be proud to be your pastor!
