Rules of Life Preview
Life is hard, especially for Christians. It is certain that we will face difficulties and that God will allow them. But it's just as inevitable that the same God who led us in will lead us out. Learning from the Israelites' story in Exodus 14, we'll look at 9-10 strategies (rules) to move from fear to faith. Just as Moses and the Israelites became trapped between Pharaoh's rushing armies and the uncrossable Red Sea, so are we sometimes overwhelmed by life's problems.
This is a loving God series. When we learn to walk in faith and not fear, we deepen our love for God so that we can trust him no matter what happens in life.
Series in a Nut Shell
All summer, we're diving into Exodus 14, taking practical lessons from one of the most significant events in Israel's life. We'll learn how to look at a crisis in life and turn it into an opportunity to build our faith. We'll also learn how to stay calm and confident while waiting for God to work. No matter how impossible a situation may seem, God promises to find a way for us.
Why I'm Preaching It
Summer can be a wonderful time of year, but it's also busy. If you miss a week (or two), don't worry. The messages don't build, so you can jump back in whenever you can. I hope you'll find your time at home with your church family as refreshing and uplifting as your travel as we learn from the Red Sea and apply the lessons to our lives.
Go Deeper
I have loosely pulled this series from a book called The Red Sea Rules: 10 God-Given Strategies for Difficult Times by Robert J. Morgan. In the book are Study Questions for each week that you can use on your own or in a group. This book is a great way to stay connected while you're traveling. The book is a short but powerful way to keep you focused on keeping God at the center all summer.
