Story Arc Preview

A Story Arc is one or more consecutive comic book issues that define a story with a beginning, middle, and end.

The Bible is not just a collection of stories but a saga that intertwines with our own lives. It's the tale of Yahweh and Adam, the prodigal son and his ever-gracious heavenly father, humanity in its rebellion and God in its grace. This narrative begins with Eden and concludes once creation is restored. It is not just a story. It's your story if you are a believer.

We’ll spend some time searching the scriptures to find God’s grace in the Old Testament as God journeys with Israel on the adventure of relationships.
This series will help us do all three: love God, love others, and share Christ, because it will help us understand the purpose of the Old Testament stories concerning the New Testament and to see that our God is the same God.

Series in a Nut Shell

From Genesis to Revelation, the theme of Holy Love, Covenant, and Relationship is everywhere. We'll unpack these themes and look at how Old Testament stories relate to Jesus.

Why I'm Preaching It

As some of us have been reading through the Bible this year, we've talked a lot about how different God seems in the Old Testament and the New Testament. It can be hard to see him as a Loving God when his rules and his requirements were so graceless. This is one of many issues non-Christians have with the Bible.

Understanding how our history (the Old Testament) of our relationship with God is important, and it will help us have a deeper relationship with him.

Going Beyond the Sermon

This series will cover some BIG theological topics, so I'll be hosting a Wednesday night study to unpack it more with a Bible study called The Epic of Eden by Dr. Sandra Richter. Dr. Richter is an Old Testament Bible scholar and an Archeologist. She has dedicated her life to studying the culture of and lives of the Bible characters.

Starting June 12th, we'll meet Wednesdays at 6:30 in admin. I'll have activities and discussion guides for the kids, who will meet in the room with us.

To get the most out of the study, there is a discussion guide with short devotions each day. I have ordered a few copies and will have them in worship. The books aren't on Prime Shipping or on Kindle; sorry. I contacted the publisher about the Kindle not working.

Each week's videos will be online, so if you miss a week because of summer activities, you can watch it to keep up, so don't let that keep you from participating.
