Help with Special Events

Did you know that as a church, we host events for other organizations and people? In a given quarter, we may host a health screening, birthday party, board meeting, scouts, and a sheriff's meeting. It's been part of the church's goals over the past 2 years to make our spaces available to the community. We work to keep our facilities up-to-date and looking nice. We don't want them to just sit around empty.

Non-profit organizations often get a discount or even free use of our spaces, depending on what they want to do with the facilities.
I'd love to put together a team to help us coordinate these events and meet with people as they have them. Here's an outline of the responsibilities:
  • Be available when an event occurs - these are all times (day, evening, and weekend), so that's one of the reasons I'm looking for a team of people. Even if you only have evenings, you can help; someone else may only have day times. Together, it works.
  • Be willing to hold a key to the church - all key holders must have a clean background check every 3 years and go through the youth and child protection training every year. The church pays for this training. You'll receive a unique code to the security system and receive training on how it works.
  • Be open to representing our church to the community - this is a great way to connect with our community. It's my desire that the people who are on this team see this as a service opportunity and do so joyfully as a church representative

There are some key rolls as well for those who are very passionate about these things:
  • Wedding Coordinator - We're working on being more proactive in sharing with the community the beauty of our facility for weddings. If you'd like to help coordinate someone's big day from the church's side, you could really help create a lasting relationship. This person needs to be detail oriented.
  • Funeral Coordinator - Funeral homes often look for churches to partner with for people who want a church funeral, but don't have a church. This is an incredible way for us to minister to someone when they need it the most. This person needs a heart of compassion and a flexible schedule.

As we continue to use our facilities to build connections in our community, please remember to share this with others. Know someone who needs space for a music recital? We've got the space. Hear of someone wanting a birthday party spot, send them our info. We're trying to return to the idea that the church is the center of the community.
