When Faith Feels Fragile: Finding God in Our Doubts

We don’t often talk about doubt in church. In fact, it’s sometimes treated like a spiritual taboo—a red flag that your faith is unraveling. But what if doubt isn’t a sign of spiritual failure? What if it’s actually a doorway to deeper faith?

That’s the heart behind the Doubting God series. Over seven powerful weeks, this series invites us into honest conversations about faith, uncertainty, and the questions we’ve been afraid to ask. Because here’s the truth: God isn’t intimidated by our doubts. He meets us right in the middle of them.

Why I'm Preaching It

As a pastor—and someone who has had to relearn how to engage with faith after life-altering trauma—I’ve come to understand that doubt isn’t something to be ashamed of. It’s something to wrestle with in the presence of a loving God.

Too many people have been hurt by the church’s silence around spiritual questions. Others feel like they’ve got to have it all figured out to belong. But I want our community to be a place where people can be real—where you can say, “I’m not sure,” and still be fully welcomed.

I’m preaching this series because I believe God honors our honesty. Jesus didn’t push doubters away—He drew near. That’s the kind of church we’re building. One that doesn’t pretend, but one that grows deeper because we ask the hard questions together.

Going Beyond the Sermon

Spirituality is more than what we hear on Sunday—it’s how we live it out the rest of the week. If this series has stirred something in you, don’t stop with just one message. Here are a few ways to go deeper:

?️ Join the Wednesday Night Bible Study
Each Wednesday evening, we’re gathering to wrestle with these themes together. It’s a space to bring your questions, hear from others, and experience how community strengthens faith. You don’t have to believe everything to belong—we’re all in this journey together.

? Use the Weekly Home Devotional Guide
These devotions were created to help you reflect, pray, and have honest conversations at home or in a small group. Whether you use them at the dinner table, during your morning quiet time, or with a journal, they’re here to help faith feel real in everyday life.

? Reflect on the Questions, Not Just the Answers
We’re not rushing to resolve every doubt. Take time each week to ask: What questions am I holding? What is God saying to me through this? You might be surprised at how God works through your wondering.

? Bring a Friend to Church
This is a safe series to invite someone who’s unsure about faith. Maybe they’ve been hurt by the church, or maybe they’re just curious. Either way, your invitation could be the beginning of their healing, hope, and rediscovery of God.
