Naked and Unafraid Preview

Have you ever felt like a church is just a group pretending everything is okay? If you're like me, there are times you wish people would stop pretending they have their sh** together and show a bit more of the mess that they are. The truth is, none of us pray enough, read our Bibles enough, share our faith enough, or love God enough. We're all a spiritual mess at some point or another. God's annoying perfect love doesn't care how imperfect we are. He loves us anyway.

Disclaimer: "Naked and unafraid" refers to our spiritual selves, not physical ones. We require everyone to be properly "clothed," meaning shirts and pants. We don't care what your clothes look like, as long as you wear them. 😉
This is a loving others series. We will learn to become spiritually vulnerable and open to others' spiritual journeys.

Series in a Nut Shell

Jesus went to the outcasts and those on the fringe of society more than the respected people because they were the ones who needed his message of love the most. We'll learn from the Gospel of Luke how Jesus transformed people by meeting them exactly where they were. He didn't ask them to pretend they were something they weren't. Together, we'll open up our spiritual journey, be challenged to be vulnerable in our spiritual lives, and become more welcoming to others.

Why I'm Preaching It

Christians have a reputation for being hypocritical because we don't share our spiritual journeys enough–we're not transparent or vulnerable. To help those seeking God, we must do two things: (1) be willing to share the mess of our own spiritual lives and (2) be able to deal with other people's messy lives.
