Making It Your Place

God has blessed us with an abundance of new faces over the past 6 months. It causes me to be at a loss for words. I have been praying for God to bring a revival through Fleming Island United Methodist since I found out I would be coming as the pastor in May of 2022. I have prayed over the names of those who worship with us, those who stopped worshipping with us, and our entire community. I have asked for God's blessings over our finances and his guidance in leadership. I never doubted that God would do amazing things. Yet, I can't express how blessed I feel that I have had the opportunity to be on the front row (literally) and watch God work.

The thing I hear over and over again is people come to our church for one of the following reasons:
  • They found us online or saw some of our social content
  • Someone in the church invited them
  • They are looking for a new United Methodist home for one reason or another

No matter why a person chooses to try us out, they decide to stay almost always because of the same two reasons:
  • Everyone is friendly and welcoming
  • They enjoy the worship and receive something from it

Church family, you've made God proud! You've made his home a place that welcomes people and makes them feel like they can call it home. Because making space for people is essential to us, we have two events to help people find places within our community.

Mix & Mingle

August 31 @ 6:30pm | Hurricane Grill & Wings (Fleming Island)

Sometimes it can be hard to take the next step at a church...meeting new people. We want to help make that easier for you. Join us at Hurricane Grill & Wings. We'll provide finger foods, soft drinks, and a fun environment for you to meet others trying to build new connections at the church. This is a family-friendly environment, so feel free to bring the kids along. We'll have activities for them as well.  You can buy something other than a soft drink, but that's on your dime. 😉
The Mix and Mingle event is laid-back and causal for those new to the church to socialize with other new people. It's family-friendly, so you don't have to worry about getting a sitter for the kids. If you've never been to Hurricane Grill & Wings, they have a wide variety of foods and are very friendly to food allergies. The church will provide appetizers for everyone to snack on (boneless wings and some other items) and soft drinks, so the only cost is anything you choose to buy extra. This will be our second time doing this event. Everyone who attended in the Spring enjoyed it and left with new friends.

Starting Place Lunch

September 10 @ 11 am | Grace Place (the White Chapel)

Have you been attending Fleming Island UMC and want to learn more about who we are? Or maybe you want to find a place to use your gifts to serve God through the church?  Join Pastor Faith for lunch. You'll get to meet others who want to learn more about the church, find out about our ministries, ask questions about what we believe, and get plugged in so you can make a difference in God's Kingdom.
The Starting Place Lunch is a more structured setting. After worship on September 10th, we'll gather in Grace Place (the white chapel on the front of the property), and I'll share more about our church's history, mission, and ways you can help do ministry with us. This is also a place you can ask questions about what we do and why we do it. The setting will be quieter than the mingling and what you may be used to regarding a new worship attendee gathering.

To everyone who has started to worship with us in 2023, I hope you attend one or both of these events. I would love for you to find your place to impact God's kingdom through our congregation.
