Church Volunteers At The Children's Home

Waller-Jeter Cottage

Rosalie Waller Moore: One of the great blessings of working at the Children's Home is the opportunity to meet so many wonderful people. We were contacted this summer by Rosalie Moore who told us she was born and raised at the Children's Home.

She was the youngest child of Dr. Harry H. Waller who served as a Field Agent (now known as Director of Development) from 1930 to 1935. He also served as the Treasurer of the Board from 1935 to 1960. It would be hard to overestimate the influence Dr. Waller had on the Children's Home. The impact of his tireless effort can be seen across the
campus even today.

Our own Waller-Jeter cottage was named in part for Dr. Waller. It has been incredible to get to know his daughter and hear stories of those early days.

Summit Church

Lake Mary's Summit Church sent a couple of volunteer groups to the Children's Home. One of them completed some landscape work around our Independent Living cottage and retreats while the second helped out at our Heart & Home Resale Shop in Orange City. They did an awesome job and we are very thankful for their help!

Tis the Season for Trunk or Treats:

A new opportunity for community connection revealed itself this year in the form of various local Trunk or Treats. We enjoyed participating in Trunk or
Treats with the Debary VFW, Osteen Baptist Church, Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church and the Town of Enterprise. Hats off to our own Lisa Burke for her creativity in putting the car decorations together. We are deeply grateful to all those who invited us to join them in their events!
