Prayers for General Conference

In a short time, people worldwide and news stations alike will be turning their eyes to Charlotte, NC, as the United Methodists gather for the first time in 5 years to handle the general business of the church. More than 800 men and women from around the globe have been elected and are now preparing to represent their Annual Conferences by working with their delegations.

The Florida Annual Conference has asked us to shift into a spirit of prayer as we lead into General Conference. I am so blessed by this approach taken by our local leadership. Rev. Dr. Nelson Cowan provides us with a weekly prayer focus that goes along with his book, Worship Any Time Any Place.

Resources like these are many things we gain as a connected denomination. Unlike independent churches, we have strength in many things, like praying together. I hope you'll join me in praying with me and many other churches this season as we prepare for the general church body to gather and do the church's work.
