The Link: Healing Through Art
WHEN ART IS MORE THAN ART
Legacy Scholars Academy's 4th Annual Student Art Showcase was held on May 17th at the historic Enterprise Museum. A large crowd of local leaders and art enthusiasts converged to see and learn about the amazing artwork done by our incredible artists from the Legacy Scholars Academy at Residing Hope in Enterprise under the direction of their teacher Melissa Stilwell.
The artwork by artists from sixth through twelfth grade featured traditional art mediums, such as watercolor and acrylic paintings, as well as 3D sculptures and multimedia installations. There was food art made from layered toilet paper that looked so realistic and delicious that at least one art lover mistook it for a table of refreshments.
By identifying and recognizing past trauma, these students have learned to describe and reflect how they feel through their artwork with creativity, perseverance and dedication. All of the artwork remained on public display at the Enterprise Museum through the month of May in honor of Foster Care Awareness Month.

VOLUNTEERS ARE THE AIR IN OUR LUNGS!
A large group of volunteers from the Journey Church campuses in Orange City and Pine Ridge came out one day in early May to support Residing Hope. Journey has volunteered at Residing Hope multiple times since 2017.
Part of the energetic group worked on freshening the landscape and mulching while others worked to organize our arts & crafts supplies for the children. Then they wrapped up the day with a journeyconnect.org pool party for our children featuring so much pizza! Big thank you to Katy Alexander, Ann Bickel, and Pastor Timothy D. Bulleman, Jr. for making this happen!

VOLUNTEERS ARE OUR HEART BEAT!
Volunteers from Liberty Mutual Insurance continued their great work in May by serving in our Heart & Home Resale Shop in Orange City. As part of their Liberty Torchbearers program, each year thousands of Liberty Mutual employees give, volunteer, and serve in support of causes that are important to them. Volunteers from Liberty Mutual have been helping us every year since 2017! Thank you Liberty Mutual!
Liberty, Liberty, Liberty...
