I'm so excited about the new song we're singing this week, "Act Justly, Love Mercy, Walk Humbly" by Pat Barrett. This has become one of my new favorite songs, because it captures scripture so well!

The song reflects God’s desire for His people to focus not on external religious rituals but on living a life marked by justice, mercy, and humility—values that reflect His character. It calls believers to align their hearts and actions with these principles in their relationships with others and with God.

It’s a simple yet profound way to live out the Gospel—showing love and mercy through action and humbly walking with God in daily life. Do you want me to dive deeper into how this aligns with other areas of the New Testament or help connect it to any specific theme in your ministry?

“Act Justly”

This phrase encourages living with fairness, righteousness, and compassion, aligning with God’s heart for justice.
  • Proverbs 21:3 (NLT): “The Lord is more pleased when we do what is right and just than when we offer him sacrifices.”
  • Isaiah 1:17 (NLT): “Learn to do good. Seek justice. Help the oppressed. Defend the cause of orphans. Fight for the rights of widows.”

“Love Mercy”

Loving mercy reflects God’s nature of kindness and forgiveness, encouraging believers to show compassion and grace to others.
  • Luke 6:36 (NLT): “You must be compassionate, just as your Father is compassionate.”
  • Ephesians 4:32 (NLT): “Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.”

“Walk Humbly”

To walk humbly means acknowledging God’s sovereignty and depending on Him daily. It is about having a heart surrendered to God, not prideful or self-sufficient.
  • James 4:10 (NLT): “Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up in honor.”
  • Philippians 2:3-4 (NLT): “Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves.”
