Glorious Day

This week, we're singing a song we've sun since 2018. “Glorious Day” is a celebration of the resurrection power of Christ applied to our lives. It speaks to the spiritual resurrection that believers experience, moving from sin and death to life, echoing Ephesians 2:1-10, which explains how we are “made alive with Christ.”

This song beautifully encapsulates the core gospel message: Christ’s call out of spiritual death, the power of resurrection, and the new life we find in His love.

Here are a few lines from the song and the connection to Scripture:

“I was buried beneath my shame / Who could carry that kind of weight?”

  • Isaiah 53:4-5 (NLT) — “Yet it was our weaknesses he carried; it was our sorrows that weighed him down… he was crushed for our sins.”
    • This reflects the weight of sin and shame, which Christ took upon Himself on the cross, freeing us from the burden we could not carry.

“It was my tomb till I met You”

  • Romans 6:4 (NLT) — “For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives.”
    • This line aligns with the idea of moving from spiritual death to life when we encounter Christ, as symbolized in baptism.

"You called my name, and I ran out of that grave”

Song Lyrics: “There’s no prison wall You can’t break through / No mountain You can’t move / All things are possible”
This line references the limitless power of God, especially over the greatest enemy—death.
  • John 11:43-44 (NLT) — When Jesus calls Lazarus from the grave, He demonstrates the literal power over death and the invitation to new life in Him.
    • The song echoes this moment of Jesus calling Lazarus to life, symbolizing how we, too, are called out of spiritual death and into life through Christ.

“Out of the darkness, into Your glorious day”

Song Lyrics: “You’ve already won, O God of revival”
This lyric points to the assurance of victory in God’s plans, a theme prevalent throughout Scripture.
  • 1 Peter 2:9 (NLT) — “For he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.”
    • This lyric celebrates the transformation from darkness to light, a common biblical image for salvation and new life in Christ.

“Now Your mercy has saved my soul”

  • Ephesians 2:4-5 (NLT) — “But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead.”
    • This reflects God’s mercy, which redeems us from spiritual death, emphasizing salvation as a gift of grace.

“Now Your freedom is all that I know”

  • 2 Corinthians 3:17 (NLT) — “For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.”
    • Through salvation in Christ, believers experience true freedom from sin, shame, and the chains of the past.
