Last 5th Sunday 2023
This month is a month with 5 Sundays, which means we're collecting for the Florida United Methodist Children's Home. Here's a message from the Children's Home:
Ways you can support the Children's Home:
I have one more story to share. Hear how the Children's Home helped Denaijah after high school, who is now a nurse, by watching the video below.
Robert came to us with a trauma history that meant bedtime was a really difficult time for him. He never slept in his bed, preferring to sleep in his closet or on the ground. Staff and therapists worked hard with him to help him feel safe so he would start sleeping in his bed.
This summer he went to Warren Willis Camp for a week of overnight camp. We were a little nervous about how he would do with the bunkbeds and sharing a room with others, but he had a great week at camp and we got a positive report from his counselors about him not having trouble with bedtime.
Robert really struggled with focus and staying on task. After a year with us working with his therapist, the psychiatrist, and the behavior analyst, he performed in the Day on Campus production of the Wizard of Oz.
This was a big deal for Robert because it meant sitting through long rehearsals and staying on task and knowing his cues throughout the show. We are so proud of Robert and his progress!
Mere mortal words could never adequately express our love and gratitude for your continuing partnership with us which enables such transformation to occur. Thank you!
Ways you can support the Children's Home:
- Donate through the offering basket and note UMCH on the gift
- Donate through our Online Giving and Select UM FL Children's Home
- Save your old luggage. Any time you have luggage that you don't need, bring it to the church. We can send it to the children, who usually arrive at the home with their belongings in a bag.
