Top of the Evening
by Faith Parry on September 13th, 2023
The men went out to Jacksonville this week to hit some golf balls. Why? Because spending time together and doing something you enjoy is what it means to fellowship!Church is about more than worship. If we're to grow closer to God together, we need to build relationships with one another. When we have friendships, we can support each other in our work, family, and spirit lives. Our men's ministry r... Read More

Record Food Collection
by Faith Parry on September 13th, 2023
August 26, we participated in the 3rd parking lot food drive with Sacred Heart Catholic Church. This food drive was started to honor one of their members, Jack Graves, and has become one of the largest drives the Green Cove Food Pantry has. What I love about this event is that we get to spend time with our neighbors next door. This time around, I was able to volunteer for the entire event. I lear... Read More

Boomers for Bannerman
by Faith Parry on September 6th, 2023
It's always exciting to receive new members to our church. If you haven't had a chance, check out the recent postings that share our new members. What's even more exciting is when those new to our church family jump in and share their gifts, talents, and passions with the church family. As I write this, I'm listening to one of these new members pounding away as he repairs a closet in the church.... Read More

No Condemnation
by Faith Parry on September 1st, 2023
The topic of how to deal with what’s right and wrong is a big deal in the church world right now. I see things on Facebook like, “you can’t change the Bible to meet your needs” with everyone agreeing left and right. I don’t disagree with this, but do people really stand behind it? I mean, are people striving every day to live a holy and blameless life themselves? Are they putting God first in thei... Read More

Visible and Invisible
by Faith Parry on August 31st, 2023
I have lived around military bases for 12 years (if I did my math right). I have learned that there is a different weight that comes with scars that people can see and scars that people can’t. I learned this firsthand as the scar on my forehead healed, but the scars on my brain were still present. Every one of us carries the effects of our life’s story–the good and the bad. “Too many carry the sca... Read More

MOM UP
by Katie Strickland on August 30th, 2023
FIUMC MOMS is hosting a five-week Bible Study using the book "MOM UP" by Kara-Kae James. The book is broken into five parts with 3-4 chapters in each part. Each week, starting Wednesday, September 20, we will cover one of ... Read More

Prayer Experiment Preview
by Faith Parry on August 30th, 2023
Our go-to response is, "I'll pray for you." Most of us will stop and say a short prayer. But what if there was more? What if there was a way to tap into God's power and pray like they did in the New Testament? Imagine if we as a church tapped into God's power to guide, direct, and transform our community through us. This is a loving God and loving others series. We will focus on how to dial into p... Redo Conspiracy
by Faith Parry on August 30th, 2023
Have you ever needed a redo? Some days, before I get the kid out of the house, I need to rewind the morning and start it all over for everyone. We have a house full of people who are not morning people. You may have a relationship or friendship that needs a refresh. It’s never too late as long as you and the other person are still alive. Some relationships have too much hurt and harm to be able to ... Read More

Who Do You Desire?
by Faith Parry on August 29th, 2023
We live in a world that’s all about desire. You can find many pippy quotes like “Do what makes you happy,” and so forth. It’s part of our nature to desire and want to be desired. God is the number one thing to desire over everything else in life. “In those days when you pray, I will listen. If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me.” –Jeremiah 29:12-13 NLTWhen God tells us to love him wh... Read More

No Hiding
by Faith Parry on August 28th, 2023
There are some stories in scripture of people pushing their way to Jesus. Others are arrogant and argue with Jesus. Then there's the story of the woman who sees herself as unworthy and hides from him. At the same time, she believes in who he is enough that she makes her way into the crowd to touch the hem of his clothes, believing that simply touching his clothes would heal her. "But Jesus said, "... Read More

In the jungle, every day is an unpredictable adventure! But to safely navigate the vines, animals, and tricky terrain, we’ll need a guide to help lead us. No Condemnation
by Faith Parry on August 25th, 2023
My final thought this week about intimidation is that God’s intention has never been to intimidate his people. He intimidates the enemies of his people but never those who were his. When Jesus came, he extended God’s promises to everyone beyond the Jewish people. Those of us who in the past would never have been included in the protection of the Almighty, creator of all things, can now call him ou... Read More
